Congratulations Gail Yatso!
Wisconsin Veterinary Practice Manager of the Year 2009

"She loves to have fun." What an appropriate description given by one of her co-workers for the 2009 Practice Manager of the Year.

This is only one of the many phrases used to describe Gail. Others include "hard worker", "easily accessible", "provides harmony and productiveness within the clinic", "makes sure the staff and clients feel appreciated" and "just a great person to work for".

Over her six years as practice manager, Gail has worked to create a comfortable working environment for her staff. She has set in place protocols, gone through surgery prices demonstrating true cost, reflecting that in the prices charged to clients and at the same time showing value for the service. She has spent many hours on inventory control, putting in place a system that is reliable and accurate. She also has used software to the clinic's advantage in presenting signed estimates and conforming to the informed consent standards. These projects have all impacted the practice profitability according to one of the owners.

Gail is very active in community education as it relates to pet care and the individuals who provide this care. She takes every opportunity to present at schools, gives tours to groups at the clinic, and organizes fundraisers for the local humane society. Her latest community effort has been organizing a "Rabies Awareness Campaign".

Her enthusiasm for the profession is also reflected in the WVPMA. She has been an active member of the WVPMA since she has assumed a management role. Gail has served on the board as President-elect, President and Past-President. At 2008 convention, she gave a presentation on inventory management. Gail also serves as one of the WVPMA representatives on the MATC Advisory Board.

Please congratulate Gail Yatso, of Hometown Veterinary Clinic in Oconto Falls, WI on this accomplishment.
